Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Beverage, Software & Computer Services and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.59% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SSE PLC (LON:SSE), which rose 3.55% or 38.50 points to trade at 1122.50 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 2.36% or 111.00 points to end at 4815.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 2.09% or 23.50 points to 1148.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 3.67% or 72.00 points to trade at 1890.00 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 2.26% or 54.00 points to end at 2340.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.04% or 44.00 points to 2109.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1041 to 968 and 326 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.51% or 6.10 to $1207.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $68.58 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $78.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.62% to 1.3151, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8888.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 94.07.
