Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 4.10% or 8.15 points to trade at 206.90 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 3.81% or 61.00 points to end at 1,662.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.15% or 15.80 points to 518.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 4.52% or 85.00 points to trade at 1,796.50 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 4.04% or 17.00 points to end at 403.55 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 3.89% or 15.90 points to 392.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 921 to 867 and 671 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 19.05 to $2,684.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 4.98% or 3.68 to hit $70.15 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.76% or 3.69 to trade at $73.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.96.
