Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Construction & Materials and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 6.33% or 44.50 points to trade at 747.50 at the close. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) added 2.37% or 10.60 points to end at 457.60 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 1.31% or 5.25 points to 404.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 3.85% or 197.00 points to trade at 4,918.00 in late trade. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) declined 2.78% or 20.20 points to end at 707.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.50% or 13.00 points to 507.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1181 to 603 and 679 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 7.40 to $2,737.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.86% or 1.28 to hit $69.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 1.13 to trade at $74.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.48% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 103.75.
