Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 6.28% or 163.00 points to trade at 2759.00 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) added 5.06% or 46.80 points to end at 971.60 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 4.12% or 4.80 points to 121.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 5.76% or 44.20 points to trade at 723.00 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 3.54% or 72.50 points to end at 1976.50 and Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) shed 3.35% or 121.00 points to 3489.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1189 to 935 and 194 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.15% or 33.50 to $1526.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.26% or 0.71 to hit $56.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 0.78 to trade at $61.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.60% to 1.2324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.8960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 98.333.
