Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, General Industrial and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.41% or 18.00 points to trade at 764.00 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) added 2.41% or 26.20 points to end at 1113.80 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was up 2.12% or 130.00 points to 6270.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 4.51% or 24.00 points to trade at 508.60 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 3.48% or 11.90 points to end at 329.70 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 3.31% or 31.60 points to 923.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1284 to 829 and 200 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.75% or 26.75 to $1556.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.65% or 1.46 to hit $53.64 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.77 to trade at $57.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.26% to 1.2098, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.9068.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 98.905.
