Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 3.22% or 25.40 points to trade at 814.60 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 2.37% or 3.78 points to end at 163.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 2.32% or 16.40 points to 722.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB), which lost 5.94% or 140.00 points to trade at 2218.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 4.85% or 99.0 points to end at 1941.0 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 2.81% or 42.50 points to 1470.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1074 to 890 and 475 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.65 to $1785.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.92% or 0.61 to hit $65.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.45 to trade at $68.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.3749, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8508.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.245.
