Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.34% or 52.00 points to trade at 1025.00 at the close. Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) added 4.30% or 19.80 points to end at 479.90 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 3.65% or 29.20 points to 828.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.52% or 45.00 points to trade at 1739.00 in late trade. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 2.34% or 130.00 points to end at 5420.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) shed 2.25% or 15.60 points to 677.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1105 to 872 and 343 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.84% or 10.75 to $1275.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.11% or 0.07 to hit $62.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.51 to trade at $72.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.2725, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.790.
