Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 5.56% or 74.3 points to trade at 1411.3 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) added 1.95% or 21.20 points to end at 1107.20 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 2.04% or 12.40 points to 618.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which lost 3.22% or 79.0 points to trade at 2371.0 in late trade. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 2.34% or 136.0 points to end at 5686.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.28% or 3.75 points to 160.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1211 to 1066 and 71 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.30% or 23.40 to $1782.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.59% or 0.27 to hit $45.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.38 to trade at $48.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.3343, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8958.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 91.778.
