Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Beverage and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 3.61% or 6.50 points to trade at 186.50 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) added 2.36% or 28.00 points to end at 1216.50 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) was up 1.92% or 9.80 points to 519.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 5.14% or 33.20 points to trade at 612.80 in late trade. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) declined 2.86% or 27.40 points to end at 930.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) shed 2.19% or 3.85 points to 172.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1119 to 885 and 339 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.11% or 1.30 to $1221.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.99% or 1.37 to hit $70.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.76 to trade at $75.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.23% to 1.3136, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8918.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 94.08.
