Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Electrical and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 1.96% or 11.20 points to trade at 583.80 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 1.40% or 51.00 points to end at 3,697.00 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) was up 1.39% or 38.00 points to 2,771.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which lost 6.28% or 51.20 points to trade at 763.80 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 3.66% or 4.80 points to end at 126.35 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) shed 3.07% or 7.20 points to 227.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1112 to 649 and 663 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.22% or 5.90 to $2,669.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.61% or 1.15 to hit $70.14 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.72 to trade at $73.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.57% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 106.54.
