Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Beverage and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 8.08% or 10.64 points to trade at 142.34 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 6.56% or 79.2 points to end at 1286.8 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 5.93% or 595.0 points to 10625.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 4.64% or 0.80 points to trade at 16.43 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.74% or 44.50 points to end at 1582.00 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 2.21% or 0.028 points to 1.240.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1251 to 742 and 459 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 4.60 to $1779.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.95% or 2.62 to hit $68.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.68% or 2.57 to trade at $72.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.16% to 1.3253, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8509.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 96.350.
