Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Software & Computer Services and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 5.00% or 57.00 points to trade at 1196.00 at the close. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) added 4.85% or 0.060 points to end at 1.296 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) was up 4.52% or 346.0 points to 8000.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 3.10% or 8.10 points to trade at 253.00 in late trade. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) declined 1.47% or 93.0 points to end at 6228.0 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 1.16% or 1.36 points to 116.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1130 to 806 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.05% or 18.85 to $1817.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.92% or 3.07 to hit $81.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.49% or 2.82 to trade at $83.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.28% to 1.3613, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8342.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.720.
