Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Food & Drug Retailers and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 10.74% or 253.00 points to trade at 2608.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 5.00% or 590.0 points to end at 12390.0 and RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) was up 4.68% or 22.00 points to 492.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 6.12% or 67.5 points to trade at 1034.5 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 3.65% or 12.80 points to end at 337.50 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 3.33% or 7.00 points to 203.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1300 to 882 and 168 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 3.15 to $1966.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.09% or 1.15 to hit $38.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.68% or 1.06 to trade at $40.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.46% to 1.2904, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.9186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.067.
