Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 4.38% or 4.10 points to trade at 97.76 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 3.61% or 234.0 points to end at 6720.0 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 3.14% or 137.00 points to 4505.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 3.75% or 4.94 points to trade at 126.84 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 1.57% or 16.00 points to end at 1000.50 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 1.41% or 12.60 points to 879.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1333 to 710 and 318 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.35 to $1296.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.39% or 0.85 to hit $61.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 1.13 to trade at $71.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.32% to 1.2913, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8682.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.312.
