Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 6.53% or 86.6 points to trade at 1412.6 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 4.36% or 11.00 points to end at 263.30 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.97% or 24.80 points to 649.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.85% or 73.00 points to trade at 1431.00 in late trade. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) declined 2.96% or 93.0 points to end at 3051.0 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) shed 2.50% or 48.5 points to 1891.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1304 to 634 and 440 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 7.20 to $1802.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.42% or 0.37 to hit $87.78 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.36 to trade at $88.90 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.3513, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8325.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 96.385.
