Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Mobile Telecommunications and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.88% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 4.61% or 6.40 points to trade at 145.30 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 4.27% or 62.8 points to end at 1532.8 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) was up 3.70% or 0.74 points to 20.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which lost 2.99% or 19.80 points to trade at 643.20 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.47% or 44.50 points to end at 1758.50 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) shed 2.27% or 3.50 points to 151.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1487 to 917 and 67 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 7.25 to $1791.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.92% or 0.77 to hit $84.34 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 1.03 to trade at $84.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.11% to 1.3676, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.8476.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.963.
