Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 4.74% or 75.8 points to trade at 1675.4 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.69% or 45.30 points to end at 1011.50 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) was up 3.69% or 44.50 points to 1251.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 5.03% or 26.50 points to trade at 499.90 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.22% or 20.60 points to end at 908.60 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) shed 2.06% or 11.60 points to 552.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1532 to 715 and 196 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.79% or 14.15 to $1778.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.28% or 0.17 to hit $61.52 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.15 to trade at $65.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.57% to 1.3849, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8675.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 91.293.
