Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Construction & Materials and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 5.24% or 189.00 points to trade at 3,793.00 at the close. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) added 3.73% or 14.20 points to end at 395.00 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 3.64% or 9.15 points to 260.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.43% or 24.00 points to trade at 676.00 in late trade. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 2.33% or 5.80 points to end at 243.40 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 1.94% or 96.00 points to 4,850.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1248 to 612 and 597 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.75% or 74.10 to $2,620.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.00% or 2.11 to hit $68.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.68% or 1.98 to trade at $71.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.40% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 105.42.
