Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Support Services, Software & Computer Services and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.67% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 2.54% or 2.90 points to trade at 117.05 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 2.27% or 43.0 points to end at 1935.0 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) was up 2.14% or 0.030 points to 1.432 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 2.73% or 1.46 points to trade at 52.04 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 1.44% or 4.40 points to end at 302.20 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 1.31% or 71.0 points to 5337.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1096 to 855 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 9.05 to $1824.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.78% or 0.54 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.54 to trade at $72.07 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3830, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8582.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 92.227.
