Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Industrial Metals & Mining and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.72% or 515.0 points to trade at 14370.0 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.61% or 102.0 points to end at 2924.0 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 1.94% or 7.80 points to 410.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 4.10% or 5.36 points to trade at 125.30 in late trade. GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) declined 3.49% or 1.22 points to end at 33.73 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 3.02% or 30.80 points to 990.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1114 to 1113 and 217 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 5.55 to $1777.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $73.08 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.13 to trade at $75.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.3906, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 91.847.
