Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 3.10% or 4.96 points to trade at 165.24 at the close. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) added 2.52% or 60.00 points to end at 2442.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 2.36% or 53.00 points to 2301.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DCC plc (LON:DCC), which lost 6.21% or 458.0 points to trade at 6916.0 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 4.63% or 30.40 points to end at 626.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 2.50% or 27.50 points to 1074.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1166 to 992 and 209 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.18% or 2.65 to $1454.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.47% or 0.27 to hit $57.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.19 to trade at $62.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.2860, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8564.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 98.153.
