Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which rose 6.05% or 40.50 points to trade at 710.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.91% or 85.00 points to end at 1,815.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 4.65% or 30.50 points to 686.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which lost 2.58% or 77.00 points to trade at 2,911.00 in late trade. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) declined 2.48% or 30.50 points to end at 1,199.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) shed 2.42% or 245.00 points to 9,900.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 996 to 833 and 599 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.12% or 29.79 to $2,689.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.82% or 1.22 to hit $68.42 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 1.13 to trade at $72.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.68.
