Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electrical, Software & Computer Services and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 5.89% or 24.00 points to trade at 431.50 at the close. RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) added 4.48% or 29.00 points to end at 676.00 and Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) was up 4.19% or 0.24 points to 6.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DCC plc (LON:DCC), which lost 5.75% or 338.0 points to trade at 5540.0 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 4.58% or 74.00 points to end at 1541.50 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) shed 3.65% or 435.0 points to 11480.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1456 to 841 and 64 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 4.95 to $1880.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.06% or 0.44 to hit $42.09 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.58% or 0.69 to trade at $44.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.3300, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8922.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 92.257.
