Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.66% or 25.90 points to trade at 415.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 5.96% or 6.06 points to end at 107.82 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.29% or 78.50 points to 1906.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diageo PLC (LON:DGE), which lost 2.44% or 80.5 points to trade at 3215.5 in late trade. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) declined 1.85% or 47.0 points to end at 2487.0 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 1.83% or 41.00 points to 2195.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1430 to 823 and 210 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 1.05 to $1778.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.26% or 0.16 to hit $61.98 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.31 to trade at $65.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.3884, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8701.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 90.858.
