Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, General Retailers and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which rose 11.23% or 32.60 points to trade at 322.90 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 6.18% or 30.10 points to end at 517.40 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) was up 3.50% or 5.40 points to 159.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 4.68% or 62.50 points to trade at 1,273.00 in late trade. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 2.36% or 70.00 points to end at 2,900.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 1.95% or 38.00 points to 1,915.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1063 to 730 and 669 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.68% or 17.85 to $2,591.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.70% or 1.17 to hit $70.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 1.03 to trade at $73.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.40% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 100.60.
