Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.84% or 30.20 points to trade at 653.80 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 2.75% or 4.04 points to end at 151.02 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) was up 2.70% or 51.50 points to 1958.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which lost 4.17% or 35.00 points to trade at 804.40 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 2.68% or 232.0 points to end at 8418.0 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 2.68% or 47.00 points to 1708.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1221 to 935 and 206 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 6.25 to $1569.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.40 to trade at $54.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.52% to 1.2933, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8486.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 98.393.
