Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 7.47% or 174.00 points to trade at 2502.00 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) added 5.46% or 57.40 points to end at 1108.80 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.63% or 106.50 points to 4149.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which lost 1.95% or 3.90 points to trade at 196.10 in late trade. Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) declined 1.19% or 3.40 points to end at 283.10 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 1.03% or 19.50 points to 1878.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1364 to 734 and 212 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 5.15 to $1531.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.63% or 1.49 to hit $55.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.20% or 1.33 to trade at $59.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.19% to 1.2165, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.9024.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 98.852.
