Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Aerospace & Defense and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON:BP), which rose 5.80% or 22.70 points to trade at 414.25 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 3.60% or 26.60 points to end at 766.60 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 3.50% or 5.04 points to 149.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which lost 10.32% or 138.50 points to trade at 1,204.00 in late trade. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) declined 5.75% or 32.40 points to end at 531.60 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) shed 4.66% or 364.00 points to 7,440.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1220 to 686 and 432 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.43% or 7.95 to $1,871.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.98% or 2.08 to hit $103.09 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 2.05 to trade at $105.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 103.40.
