Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV), which rose 4.03% or 98.00 points to trade at 2,533.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 3.93% or 344.00 points to end at 9,090.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 3.47% or 22.00 points to 657.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which lost 1.69% or 8.60 points to trade at 501.20 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 1.49% or 93.00 points to end at 6,132.00 and Aviva PLC (LON:AV) shed 1.48% or 6.60 points to 438.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1152 to 802 and 426 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.43% or 8.25 to $1,931.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.56% or 2.54 to hit $101.81 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 2.00 to trade at $106.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 99.00.
