Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Mobile Telecommunications and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 5.13% or 39.20 points to trade at 804.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.74% or 54.00 points to end at 1194.50 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 3.94% or 35.40 points to 934.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 2.29% or 18.60 points to trade at 794.80 in late trade. WPP PLC (LON:WPP) declined 2.24% or 21.00 points to end at 916.80 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) shed 1.91% or 73.00 points to 3756.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1152 to 987 and 211 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.14% or 2.05 to $1426.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $55.26 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.15 to trade at $62.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.33% to 1.2504, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8977.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 96.782.
