Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), which rose 5.64% or 83.00 points to trade at 1555.50 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) added 5.21% or 0.86 points to end at 17.25 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 3.44% or 126.0 points to 3783.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halma PLC (LON:HLMA), which lost 5.71% or 179.0 points to trade at 2956.0 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 4.80% or 91.00 points to end at 1804.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) shed 3.65% or 600.0 points to 15845.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1379 to 664 and 421 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.22% or 22.00 to $1784.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.98% or 1.52 to hit $78.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.81% or 2.24 to trade at $81.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.3384, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8416.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 96.420.
