Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Software & Computer Services and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which rose 3.75% or 75.00 points to trade at 2077.00 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) added 3.74% or 79.00 points to end at 2191.00 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) was up 3.14% or 63.00 points to 2071.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which lost 4.01% or 7.85 points to trade at 188.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 3.25% or 6.55 points to end at 194.80 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.97% or 174.00 points to 5690.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1250 to 937 and 211 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.32% or 18.45 to $1418.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $57.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.63 to trade at $63.82 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.2734, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.8943.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.585.
