Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Tobacco and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.05% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 4.14% or 5.10 points to trade at 128.30 at the close. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) added 2.91% or 3.20 points to end at 113.00 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 2.63% or 9.50 points to 371.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which lost 8.76% or 393.00 points to trade at 4,093.00 in late trade. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) declined 8.07% or 52.40 points to end at 596.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 1.98% or 9.20 points to 454.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 907 to 876 and 701 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 6.80 to $2,421.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.71% or 1.32 to hit $75.84 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 1.25 to trade at $79.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 104.38.
