Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the General Industrial, Household Goods & Home Construction and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE), which rose 1.77% or 82.00 points to trade at 4726.00 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) added 1.75% or 4.30 points to end at 249.30 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 1.62% or 4.25 points to 266.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 2.59% or 21.60 points to trade at 812.40 in late trade. Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) declined 2.58% or 17.20 points to end at 648.60 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 1.76% or 5.20 points to 290.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1025 to 1023 and 315 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.20 to $1201.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.37% or 0.25 to hit $67.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.23 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.84% to 1.3024, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.8909.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 95.07.
