Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Beverage and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.11% or 24.60 points to trade at 815.00 at the close. GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) added 2.70% or 0.91 points to end at 34.65 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 1.93% or 108.0 points to 5708.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 2.61% or 5.40 points to trade at 201.40 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.42% or 21.80 points to end at 877.80 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.25% or 3.98 points to 173.02.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1109 to 1056 and 239 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 8.15 to $1814.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.43% or 1.06 to hit $75.16 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 1.12 to trade at $76.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.3852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8528.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 92.543.
