Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Information Technology and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Zorlu Enerji (IS:ZOREN), which rose 5.63% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.690 at the close. Odas Elektrik (IS:ODAS) added 3.97% or 0.310 points to end at 8.120 and Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS) was up 3.73% or 0.120 points to 3.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tekfen Holding (IS:TKFEN), which lost 4.05% or 0.29 points to trade at 6.87 in late trade. Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) declined 4.00% or 0.020 points to end at 0.480 and Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL) shed 3.88% or 0.160 points to 3.960.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 261 to 76 and 70 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.64% or 7.85 to $1209.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.41% or 0.20 to hit $48.90 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $49.74 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.27% to 2.9414, while EUR/TRY fell 0.06% to 3.2825.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 95.61.
