Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transport, Services and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 0.87% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Gsd Holding (IS:GSDHO), which rose 5.61% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.130 at the close. Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS) added 4.35% or 0.010 points to end at 0.230 and Aksa Enerji (IS:AKSEN) was up 4.14% or 0.120 points to 3.020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gubre Fabrik. (IS:GUBRF), which lost 5.61% or 0.38 points to trade at 6.39 in late trade. Alarko Holding (IS:ALARK) declined 4.42% or 0.15 points to end at 3.24 and Turk Hava Yollari (IS:THYAO) shed 4.23% or 0.370 points to 8.380.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 269 to 130 and 11 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.99% or 11.10 to $1128.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.97% or 1.71 to hit $41.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.35% or 1.64 to trade at $47.17 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.25% to 2.9308, while EUR/TRY rose 1.58% to 3.2424.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 96.88.
