Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 3.02% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mosel (TW:2342), which rose 9.93% or 0.28 points to trade at 3.10 at the close. Thunder Tiger (TW:8033) added 4.46% or 0.40 points to end at 9.36 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) was up 4.42% or 0.19 points to 4.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gigastorage (TW:2406), which lost 10.00% or 1.75 points to trade at 15.75 in late trade. Htc Corp (TW:2498) declined 10.00% or 4.95 points to end at 44.55 and Edimax Tech (TW:3047) shed 10.00% or 0.86 points to 7.74.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 796 to 46 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.25% or 0.52 to $40.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.99% or 0.46 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.39% or 4.50 to trade at $1157.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 32.688, while TWD/CNY rose 0.51% to 0.1978.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.47.
