Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Construction and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fortune Oriental Co Ltd (TW:2491), which rose 9.72% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.55 at the close. Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) added 8.48% or 2.80 points to end at 35.80 and Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) was up 7.63% or 2.85 points to 40.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225), which lost 10.00% or 4.55 points to trade at 40.95 in late trade. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) declined 7.40% or 7.40 points to end at 92.60 and Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468) shed 7.28% or 1.95 points to 24.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.28% or 0.20 to $71.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.23% or 0.17 to hit $74.81 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 4.00 to trade at $2,645.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 32.86, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.05% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 108.19.
