Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209), which rose 10.00% or 5.20 points to trade at 57.20 at the close. San Chih Semiconductor Inc Ltd (TW:3579) added 10.00% or 1.45 points to end at 15.95 and U-Tech Media Corp (TW:3050) was up 9.96% or 1.15 points to 12.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025), which lost 5.52% or 1.30 points to trade at 22.25 in late trade. Avision Inc (TW:2380) declined 5.44% or 0.38 points to end at 6.61 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) shed 5.30% or 2.10 points to 37.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 561 to 218 and 94 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.25% or 0.12 to $48.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $53.38 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.97 to trade at $1343.53 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 30.090, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2182.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 92.26.
