Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Machinery and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were I-Chiun Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2486), which rose 9.86% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.60 at the close. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) added 9.81% or 0.96 points to end at 10.75 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) was up 4.55% or 6.00 points to 138.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976), which lost 9.98% or 5.90 points to trade at 53.20 in late trade. Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) declined 9.96% or 3.40 points to end at 30.75 and Ennoconn Corp (TW:6414) shed 9.89% or 41.00 points to 373.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 727 to 131 and 61 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.05% or 0.78 to $74.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.59 to hit $77.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1241.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.581, while TWD/CNY rose 0.50% to 0.2192.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 94.60.
