Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Plastic and Chemical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519), which rose 9.87% or 0.45 points to trade at 5.01 at the close. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) added 9.85% or 1.35 points to end at 15.05 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) was up 7.10% or 0.13 points to 1.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which lost 5.31% or 2.45 points to trade at 43.65 in late trade. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) declined 4.88% or 0.50 points to end at 9.75 and Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464) shed 4.01% or 11.00 points to 263.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 426 to 359 and 130 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.45% or 0.24 to $53.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.30 to hit $61.80 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1283.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 30.914, while TWD/CNY fell 0.34% to 0.2195.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 95.958.
