Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yang Ming Mari (TW:2609), which rose 9.93% or 0.44 points to trade at 4.87 at the close. Mobiletron (TW:1533) added 9.90% or 3.80 points to end at 42.20 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was up 7.90% or 1.60 points to 21.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.84% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.10 in late trade. Basso Indu (TW:1527) declined 5.27% or 5.20 points to end at 93.40 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) shed 4.98% or 0.55 points to 10.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 383 to 367 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.14% or 0.07 to $50.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.78% or 20.70 to trade at $1143.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.36% to 31.910, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2153.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 102.38.
