Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yi Jinn Indu (TW:1457), which rose 9.88% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.35 at the close. Acelon Chem Fi (TW:1466) added 9.74% or 1.30 points to end at 14.65 and Tycoons (TW:2022) was up 9.73% or 0.39 points to 4.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taiwan Sakura (TW:9911), which lost 9.82% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.90 in late trade. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.65% or 1.10 points to end at 10.30 and Wistron Corp (TW:3231) shed 9.21% or 1.45 points to 14.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 447 to 392 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.56% or 0.23 to $41.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1115.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.54% to 32.175, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1993.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 96.45.
