Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fortune Info (TW:2468), which rose 9.91% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.65 at the close. Scinopharm (TW:1789) added 9.90% or 3.50 points to end at 38.85 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) was up 9.02% or 6.00 points to 72.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Test Research (TW:3030), which lost 8.47% or 5.30 points to trade at 57.30 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.69% or 2.40 points to end at 33.45 and Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) shed 5.99% or 4.50 points to 70.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 484 to 361 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.13% or 0.07 to $50.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.32% or 0.18 to hit $57.10 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1143.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.64% to 31.106, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1993.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.69.
