Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Machinery, Electricity and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.86% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Shihlin Electric & Engineering Corp (TW:1503), which rose 10.00% or 24.50 points to trade at 269.50 at the close. EverFocus Electronics Corp (TW:5484) added 10.00% or 5.50 points to end at 60.50 and Enlight Corp (TW:2438) was up 9.98% or 3.25 points to 35.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SDI Corp (TW:2351), which lost 9.97% or 15.00 points to trade at 135.50 in late trade. Lead Data Inc (TW:2443) declined 9.85% or 0.39 points to end at 3.57 and Nishoku Technology Inc (TW:3679) shed 6.69% or 9.50 points to 132.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.46% or 0.36 to $77.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.47% or 0.39 to hit $82.23 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.74% or 17.40 to trade at $2,331.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 32.35, while TWD/CNY unchanged 2.09% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 105.26.
