Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Glass and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yageo Corp (TW:2327), which rose 10.00% or 83.00 points to trade at 913.00 at the close. Carnival Industrial Corp (TW:1417) added 10.00% or 0.45 points to end at 4.95 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) was up 9.98% or 21.50 points to 237.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eastern Technologies Holding Ltd (TW:5225), which lost 10.00% or 2.65 points to trade at 23.85 in late trade. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 9.90% or 5.10 points to end at 46.40 and Sintronic Technology Inc (TW:3536) shed 9.84% or 1.50 points to 13.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 408 to 397 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.37% or 0.26 to $70.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.44% or 0.34 to hit $76.78 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1320.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.04% to 29.775, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2136.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 92.36.
