Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935), which rose 9.95% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.10 at the close. Lotes Co Ltd (TW:3533) added 9.94% or 17.50 points to end at 193.50 and Da-Li Development Co Ltd (TW:6177) was up 9.93% or 2.65 points to 29.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which lost 7.57% or 0.56 points to trade at 6.84 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 4.83% or 1.05 points to end at 20.70 and Hannstar Display Corp (TW:6116) shed 4.44% or 0.500 points to 10.750.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 663 to 134 and 79 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $46.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.80% or 10.28 to trade at $1293.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 30.313, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2211.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.33.
