Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aero Win Technology Corp (TW:8222), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) added 9.87% or 1.55 points to end at 17.25 and Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958) was up 8.59% or 1.40 points to 17.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383), which lost 9.77% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.60 in late trade. Scientech Corp (TW:3583) declined 7.67% or 6.90 points to end at 83.10 and JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) shed 4.11% or 0.90 points to 21.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 459 to 299 and 123 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.25% or 0.14 to $56.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.69% or 0.43 to hit $62.87 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.89% or 11.10 to trade at $1259.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.012, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2215.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.44.
