Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.59% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) added 9.91% or 5.80 points to end at 64.30 and Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) was up 9.88% or 2.55 points to 28.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chateau International Development Co Ltd (TW:2722), which lost 6.33% or 2.05 points to trade at 30.35 in late trade. Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016) declined 4.00% or 3.00 points to end at 72.00 and Jourdeness Group Ltd (TW:4190) shed 3.98% or 5.00 points to 120.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 481 to 284 and 149 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.20% or 0.14 to $69.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $74.48 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.60 to trade at $1223.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 30.590, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2216.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 94.52.
